Rooms are essential sources for the home-coming
feeling everybody develops during life. Our
private rooms are filled up with psychological
projections, unfilled wishes, hopes and dreams.
But there are psychological rooms, too, filled
with emotions, expectations, all kind of mental
energy, may it be positive or negative.
The Room Project is built up of several video
works, mostly one channel. Each work is regarding
a profession, a special kind of room (e.g. a
stage, a show case, a castles room etc.),
intermingled with linguistic meaning of the
profession, the room and language itself.
Important aspects of this project is the shifting
of perception focus within every single video work
of the body of works from the project. Some video
works will be named after existing rooms, e.g. in
private homes, castles etc.. Other video works
will have the title and play with the idea and the
connotation of a word, e.g. glass case,
Mountainrange, and bring together the linguistic
meaning which is important for communication with
some associations rooted in the mental and
psychological status of a person. The outcome will
be a "big house" consisting of at least 10-20
rooms, each room dedicated to special emotions,
professions, or linguistic meanings.
I envision the project being staged on the web
site where all "video rooms" could be entered and
trespassed, entering one "video room" after
another as a visitor would do entering the real
life location, a house, a castle etc. Another
presetation modus could in real space where as
many as "video rooms" exist, little screening
rooms would be presented to the audience. Each
screening room is thought to be presenting one
certain "video room" and every visitor would be
forced to enter one to see all "video rooms" (so
each screening room is showing only one "video
room” in loop. All videos are 4min 0sec in
duration. This presentation modus is based on how
people percept a architectural setting in real
life.
